There is a lot to do in the Limousin – much more then you probably think!
Our region is just perfect for short or long walks, cycling on the many well-maintained and almost empty roads or for taking your mountain bike to explore the fields, hills and forests. More often than not, your only company will be the quiet surroundings and overwhelming beauty of the countryside.
It is also possible to go horse riding, play golf or swim in the many rivers and lakes. Near our gîtes – just five minutes by car or via a beautiful 30-minute trail starting behind our ‘longère’ – there is a small but very beautiful and clean lake. In July and August there are lifeguards on duty. It has a beach and a special area for children – everything you need to recover from the ‘madness’ at home.
Where there are rivers and lakes there are, of course, fish. Also, just 40 minutes away, there is a wonderful zoo and, throughout the region, there are many picturesque places where you can eat, go to the markets and stroll around the car boot sales, or ‘vide-greniers’.
Do you want to visit bigger cities? No problem: Limoges and Brive la Gaillarde have plenty on offer to keep you busy for one or more days. There are museums, an aquarium, beautiful ancient buildings and churches and lots of great restaurants where you can enjoy a very good meal for only €13-16.
